3 ways to enjoy your solid roof conservatory this spring

Posted by Clare Whitehall on Oct 11, 2024

Are you counting down the days until we can say goodbye to the cold, dark winter nights? Don’t worry, the spring equinox is just around the corner.

On March 20th we’ll finally have an equal amount of light and dark hours. And from that point onwards, our days will gradually start getting longer until we reach the peak of summer.

Spring is all about new beginnings and nature blossoming. We can soon expect to see beautiful spring flowers in our gardens.

Your solid roof conservatory provides the perfect setting to enjoy the spring season and create amazing memories with your friends and loved ones.

Read on for three ideas to create unforgettable memories in your solid roof conservatory this spring.

Get together with loved ones

During the winter months, it’s natural for people to want to stay indoors more.

It’s cold, it’s dark, and nothing seems more comfortable than staying inside in the warmth and comfort of your own home with a good book or the latest shows on TV.

But once we hit the spring equinox, the chilly days gradually start to disappear. The days get longer. People get a renewed sense of energy and enthusiasm and want to start getting outside and making plans to visit their friends and family.

Why not celebrate the start of the new season by inviting your friends or loved ones around for a spring get-together in your solid roof conservatory?

One of the benefits that a solid roof conservatory has over a conservatory with a polycarbonate roof, is that it maintains a stable temperature all year round. So even if we have a chilly spring day, your guests can enjoy your company in comfort and warmth.

With a solid roof conservatory, you also don’t need to worry about your guests having to raise their voices to be heard over the sound of rain on your conservatory roof. Having an insulated conservatory roof dampens any external noises so you can chat with friends and loved ones without any distractions.

Stuck for ideas for a spring get-together?

How about throwing a spring-themed tea party? Or hosting a poker night? Maybe invite a few couples over for a three-course dinner party?

If you’re thinking about more family-orientated activities, how about hosting a nice Sunday lunch in your conservatory? Or bringing out the board games and hosting a family games night?

With a solid roof conservatory, the ideas are endless!

Watch your garden flourish

If you’re a nature lover, there’s nothing better than watching spring bloom from the comfort of your warm, insulated, solid roof conservatory

If you’re the green-fingered type, you get to watch your garden blossom into life.

With the arrival of spring, gardens across the UK come alive with vibrant flowers. Some common spring flowers to look out for include:

  • Daffodils: often one of the first spring flowers to bloom. Once you see the vibrant yellow daffodils in your garden, it’s a sure sign that spring is on its way.
  • Crocus: crocus is another common sight in UK gardens as we come to the end of winter and enter early spring. This beautiful flower comes in a variety of different colours - purple, yellow, cream, and white.
  • Bluebells: flowering later in the spring season, bluebells commonly appear in gardens during April and May. Not only do they bring some vibrant colour to the garden, but they also have a beautiful sweet scent.

Another benefit of being able to view your garden from your solid roof conservatory is being able to watch as local wildlife comes out of hibernation and insects begin to explore.

Following the spring equinox, you should keep an eye out for:

  • Butterflies: as the weather starts to warm up, you can see a wide range of butterflies start to emerge from their cocoons and visit UK gardens.
  • Bumblebees: bees are one of the first insects to emerge in spring and are incredibly important for the pollination of plants and flowers.
  • Hedgehogs: after hibernating during winter, you can expect to see hedgehogs emerge during spring - although you are most likely to see them searching for food in your garden at night.

If you have a bird box or bird feeder in your garden, you can also expect to see an increase in activity during spring. Look out for visits from Chiffchaffs, Barn Swallows, House martins, and Turtle doves.

Bring spring inside your conservatory

Spring is also the time of year when houseplants can thrive with more natural sunlight.

This is especially true when they’re placed in a room with plenty of windows, like your solid roof conservatory.

Some popular houseplants that tend to thrive in spring include

  • Spider Plants
  • Peace Lilies
  • Rubber Plants
  • Maranta
  • Philodendron

By bringing some of these plants inside your conservatory you can achieve a fresh, natural look that can help you create an amazing ambiance.

There are also documented health benefits to having plants inside your house, including

● Improved air quality
● Reduced stress
● Boosted productivity

So if you’re looking to spruce up your conservatory this spring, consider bringing some nature indoors!

Get your conservatory ready for spring

Spring is a magical time of the year. It offers the perfect opportunity for you to enjoy your conservatory.

You can relax and unwinPrd as you enjoy nature, bring some beautiful plants indoors, and arrange a variety of spring get-togethers with your friends and loved ones.

But your enjoyment of your conservatory can be dampened if you have a glass or polycarbonate roof.

The sound of spring rain on a polycarbonate roof can make it difficult to hold conversations. The poor thermal efficiency of outdated conservatory roofs means that you still might feel the chills, even in March and April. And polycarbonate roofs in particular are known for their tendency to deteriorate over time, causing leaks that can lead to dampness and mould.

To avoid these common issues with glass and polycarbonate roofs, consider a solid roof conservatory.

At Projects4Roofing we understand how important it is to be able to enjoy time in your conservatory all year round.

Our team of specialists installs high-quality conservatory roof replacements that transform your cold, leaking conservatory into the space of your dreams.
